Golf near Reykjavík

Few capitals have this much golf on their doorstep. Iceland has around 65 courses and Europe's highest share of golfers, and several of its best are within half an hour of downtown Reykjavík.

The courses

  • Brautarholt, Kjalarnes (about 30 min north): 18 holes on the basalt cliffs of an extinct volcano. No. 1 in Iceland (Golf Digest), No. 61 in Continental Europe and No. 16 in the world for X Factor (Golf World). Hotel pickup packages and rental clubs. Book →
  • Keilir (Hvaleyrarvöllur), Hafnarfjörður (about 20 min south): a lava front nine and a seaside back nine. Ranked No. 1 in Iceland by top100golfcourses.com.
  • Reykjavík Golf Club: Grafarholt and Korpa. Iceland's oldest club (founded 1934). Grafarholt was the country's first 18-hole course.
  • And more: Oddur (Urriðavöllur) and GKG south of the city, and Mosfellsbær's club to the north-east.
