Midnight Golf · Brautarholt
In June, the night forgets to fall.
At sixty-four degrees north, just over two degrees south of the Arctic Circle, summer nights at Brautarholt simply don't get dark. Tee off at ten, play the cliff holes in amber light, and putt out on the 18th with the sun skimming the sea. It's the round you'll still be describing years from now.

The light, honestly
We'd rather tell you exactly what to expect than promise you the "midnight sun".
- It never gets dark from about 19 May to 24 July. The sun dips just below the horizon, but not far enough for night to fall. The sky stays bright enough to play.
- From about 15 to 29 June the sun sets after midnight. On midsummer night (21 June) it sets at 00:04 and rises again at 02:54: 21 hours of sunshine, and three hours of glowing dusk.
- Is it the true midnight sun? Not quite. For that you'd need to go a little further north, toward the Arctic Circle. Here the sun sets for a few hours, but the light never leaves. Many golfers find it more beautiful: the low sun and long golden shadows last all night.
How a Midnight Round works
- Evening pickup from your Reykjavík hotel, about 70 minutes before your tee time.
- Tee off between 21:30 and 22:30. Late tee times are limited each night.
- Hot soup at the turn, as the light turns gold.
- Back in town around 3 am, in daylight.
Midnight Round tee times run from 1 June to 16 July. Prefer to drive yourself? Book a late tee time (after 20:00) on a normal Tee Time and add the late-play supplement.
Solstice Night
Around 21 June we'll mark the brightest night of the year with a shotgun start at 22:00, a light supper and a certificate that says you played through it.
What to bring
- Layers. Nights are usually 7–12 °C, often with a breeze off the sea.
- A wind- and waterproof shell, gloves and a warm hat.
- Sunglasses: the sun sits very low in the north-west.
- A camera with plenty of battery.
"There's a chance I'm on another planet."
Questions, answered.
Is it really light at midnight?
From late May to late July it never gets dark at Brautarholt. Around midsummer the sun sets just after midnight (00:04 on 21 June) and rises before three (02:54). It is not the true midnight sun of the Arctic Circle, but you can play through the night.
When can I play a midnight round?
Midnight Round tee times run from 1 June to mid-July, between 21:30 and 22:30. The light lasts from late May to late July, so late tee times outside the package may be possible on request.
Will it be dark when I finish?
No. From late May to late July the sky stays light all night. On cloudy nights it can feel dim around 1 am, but you can still see your ball.
How cold is it at night?
Usually 7–12 °C, often with a breeze off the sea. Bring layers, a windproof, gloves and a hat.
How do I get back to Reykjavík?
The Midnight Round includes a late pickup and return to your hotel, back around 3 am. If you drive yourself, book a late Tee Time instead.
Is the course busy late at night?
Late tee times are limited each night, so the course is quiet. That is part of the magic.
