The makers

Laid on the land, not carved into it.

Icelandic architect Edwin Roald routed the course around the edge of Músarnes to meet the sea as often as the land allowed. Michael Kelly shaped the original holes onto the rock and water rather than flattening them. Since 2022 Tony Ristola has shaped the newest holes by hand, heading north along a ridge of ancient basalt.

The round opens with its boldest statement: a par 5 that runs out toward the sea and finishes on a green set above the waves. Patience off the tee, and use the slopes on the approach.

Local knowledge · from the clubAim for the middle of the fairway, short of the three fairway bunkers. Don't be tempted into a shortcut with the second shot: if you're short, lay up on the fairway below the slope. Approach from the left and let the slopes feed the ball toward the pin.

The nameAndríður cut a track through the forest to build his farm. The round begins where Brautarholt did.
